When we last checked in with Keith Masco back in October, he was considering opening a 24-7 diner/arcade for his space at 171 Avenue A, site of the one-time planned home of a fishmonger.
So he has decided to drop his plans for Sea on A here. Instead, Masco will be opening the first Manhattan location of his B.A.D. Burger in South Williamsburg. (The BAD stands for Breakfast All Day.)
"There will be a dessert bar, a juice bar, breakfast all day and basically the same menu as the one we opened in Williamsburg," Masco told me via email. "There will also be Xbox, Playstation TVs in the back room as well as a few vintage games like Asteroids or Pac-man. We may apply for a beer and wine license down the line."
He added that they're "very vegetarian and vegan friendly." He hopes to be ready to open in four weeks.

Coming soon to the EV: "Not the best food in the world, but satisfying when you need something late night." Perfect!
Coulda been worse, Ken FKK, it could have been a Johnny Rockets.
But ya know, if this place has the old video arcade game Joust, I would SO become a regular...
But, will there be a tic-tac-toe chicken?
If they get a tic-tac-toe chicken in there, I will spend all of my money in this place. Not that that's a lot of money, but still...
If they have old-school "Tron" I am there. But seriously, why does every new eatery around here have to be such a gimmick. All these places with their "concepts". It was tiresome a while ago and yet the barrage continues. It's almost as if the neighborhood is being taken over by douchebags.
@Anon 3:03: "It's almost as if the neighborhood is being taken over by douchebags" - baby, we're there already.
Marty - if you come in for T-T-T-chicken, look for me by the Joust machine; I'll be the tall, dark-tempered brunette pumping my quarters in to get that ostrich egg and cursing fluently when I don't.
I was the first douche-bag to move into the area. Then 4 years later, I got a dose of the 3 Mile Island fallout and have been normal ever since.
I don't think it's douchebaggy to finally cater to vegans, vegetarians, and juice-bar heads in a non-expensive and non-pretentious way, unlike the fancy juice doofs and all-bacon-all-the-time menus we've seen in the neighborhood of late. Sorry to be a hippie but I'm sick of places putting some hummus and/or a lame grilled-vegetable sandwich on their menu and thinking, "Welp, we've taken care of the vegetarians!"
BAD's burgers sound pretty great and videogames are quiet, so I welcome this new establishment, and I'm usually pretty cranky about everything new on upper Avenue A. :p
