No more love for Cinnamon Girl on 2nd Avenue

Photo by Lola Sáenz

We're closing the book on Cinnamon Girl at 73 Second Ave. between Fourth Street and Fifth Street.

The cafe-bakery has been closed since late summer... (we were keeping an eye on the gradually rotting apples in a refrigerated unit inside the front door) ... and most recently someone finally began to remove the contents of the interior. Google now lists them as Permanently Closed.

Opening in November 2021, this was the first Manhattan outpost for the Brooklyn-based business with several shops in that borough.

Someone at a nearby store said they closed due to a problem with their gas supply.

This is sad. They were good.

Never been to this location I have been to there Brooklyn location which I really liked I guess it probably was the thugs that slumped outside under the scaffolding the kind of turned me off from going in to this location

It doesn’t help that outside of this place, and in some part due to the dollar slice shop next-door, there is always a congregation of people making a mess and making people walking by feel uncomfortable. But that’s the neighborhood these days.

That was my thought exactly. Never stood a chance.

I loved their cinnamon rolls, but every time I went there the staff was some combination or rude, apathetic, or spaced out. I never felt welcome asking questions or even just ordering. It was always like they were annoyrf to have a customer walk in.

@KJP,

I mentioned this to Lola when she sent the photo.

In my one and only visit here after the grand opening, the manager on duty scolded the employee who took my order right in front of me for no apparent reason. It was unprofessional and humiliating for the employee on duty. And she kept going at her as I left... that was the only thing I recall about the visit, and I vowed never to go back.
