There's a new coffee-and-matcha option on Avenue A.
Lucky Cafe opened on Sunday at 64 Avenue A between Fourth Street and Fifth Street.
The cafe serves coffee, matcha and a selection of baked goods from Brooklyn's Colson Patisserie.
Owner James Phillips (above) and "master barista" Max Vitkus — both East Village residents — are behind the venture.
The space itself has a thoughtfully designed interior, with a warm color palette and a few welcoming extras for now, including chocolate and caramel sauces to top drinks, plus games, books and cozy seating nooks.
For now, hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, though that could shift a bit as the team settles in.

It's insane how much their logo looks like Lucky bar on Ave B. I can imagine some confusion. Can't really understand this naming concept.
I would like to ask them to please not put their A-frame sign in the middle of that busy sidewalk. That would be a good start to making me want to patronize them. It has to be against the business duh.
Looks super cute. I do however hope they can somehow make some croissants like the Croissanteria did.

The neon all caps “Lucky” on the logo? It looks nothing like this place? And “lucky” isn’t really a niche name lol seems totally up for grabs to me.
I love how innovative the owner is, a believer in stories. And man does he have one hell of a story !!
