Police searching for suspect who fired a shot outside the Ace Bar on 5th Street

The NYPD is searching for a suspect who shot at a man as he ran into the Ace Bar on Fifth Street Monday night.

According to police and media accounts, the shooter approached a man on Fifth Street just west of Avenue B. Surveillance video that the NYPD released shows the victim running into the bar at 531 E. Fifth St. for apparent cover at 11:11 p.m.

The gunman, standing on Fifth Street, then fires one shot, hitting a lower section of the entryway. The gunman, wearing a hooded gray sweatshirt, sweatpants and a surgical mask, looks both ways before leaving the scene.

NYPD sources told the Post that the victim "may have been misidentified as another person who had already run off."

Per amNY, the victim was not injured and quickly left without speaking to the police. Neither man had been a customer of the bar, sources said.

An EVG reader shared a photo of the bullet hole left behind from Monday night...
Adam from LLN NYC captured this footage of the NYPD investigating after the report of the shot fired... as the video shows, police blocked off Fifth Street at Avenue B as detectives canvassed the area around the bar...

Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). You may also submit tips online. All calls are strictly confidential.

Storm damage: reports of trees and limbs down; Ace Bar's curbside structure collapses

The high winds from this evening's thunderstorm KO'd a tree outside 323 E. 10th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B... coming to rest on a car in the process, as these photos from a longtime reader show...
Hard to tell from the pics, but it appears the car may have been spared serious damage... and no injuries.

Meanwhile on Avenue B at Seventh Street (thanks @theenemieslist1!) ...
From 11th Street and Second Avenue (not 12th as ID'd on the tweet)... And on Fifth Street between Avenue A and Avenue B, the curbside structure outside Ace Bar flipped over... (thank you @tjack411) ... also no injuries reported here...
The FDNY helped stack up the remains of the structure...

On 5th Street, Ace Bar reopens, Tuome adds curbside seats

Ace Bar returned to service on Thursday here at 531 E. Fifth St. between Avenue A and Avenue B. They're open for curbside seating from 3-11 p.m. daily with a food menu that includes hot dogs.

Ace Bar, which opened here in 1992, is owned by the same folks who ran Bleecker Bar for 30 years. That bar closed on Aug. 30. "All of our efforts to negotiate a reasonable lease extension with our landlord have failed," the owners stated. They did leave open the possibility of a return elsewhere.

Meanwhile on Fifth Street... Tuome at No. 536 has debuted outdoor seating...

The Michelin-starred restaurant reopened on Aug. 27 for takeout and delivery. Their hours: Tuesday-Saturday 5-9 p.m.

Ace Bar and Tuome join Lavagna and Minca Ramen Factory in dining offerings on this stretch of Fifth near B.

Now if Sophie's could reopen one of these days at the other end of the block...

Report: TATS CRU member arrested at Ace Bar after smacking patron with beer mug

Let's head to the Post:

Famed graffiti artist Davide Perre, known for his murals on city walls worldwide, was arrested this morning after allegedly hitting a man in the face with a beer mug in an East Village bar, police sources said.

Perre, 39, of Brooklyn was charged with felony assault after the victim was sent to Bellevue Hospital with blood gushing from his head.

Perre and his twin brother, Raoul — members of the famed TATS CRU from the Bronx — were at the Ace Bar on East Fifth Street when an argument erupted with two men. One of the men made comments about David’s wife and his brother’s girlfriend, and was then smacked.
