"Step Up 3D" is pretty much going to be filming all over the place
Yes! "Step Up 3D" is back in the neighborhood filming Friday. And the crew will need the north side of Seventh Street between First Avenue and Avenue B... BOTH sides of Avenue A between Seventh Street and St. Mark's...BOTH sides of Sixth Street between First Avenue and Avenue A...the south side of St. Mark's between First Avenue and Avenue A... and the south side of 10th Street between First Avenue and Avenue A.
Other than that....

Stepping it up tomorrow -- in 3D, no less
By the time you read this, we'll likely be first in line to see the first screening tomorrow of "Step Up 3D." Or, as we like to say,"Step Up Fuckin' 3D!"
But seriously, we are slightly curious about the movie only because of the extensive filming in the East Village last May and June. (Surely, you remember one of our 34,987 posts on it, right? If not... well... here... here... here... and maybe here.)
This two minutes is likely enough for us anyway...
Note to self: Do some sit-ups.

"Step Up" set up at 6:30 a.m.
If you live on Avenue B between Second Street and Fourth Street, you likely heard the prep work taking place at 6:30 am today for "Step Up 3D." The delightful BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP of the trucks backing up, moving into position for — perhaps! — a big dance number that will happen during a convenient rainstorm.
And I wonder what Avenue B will look in in 3D?

Prepping East Ninth Street to make to look like it did, oh, 40-plus years ago...
Speaking of the Coen Brothers... Bobby Williams notes that various carpenters and crew members started the transformation of East Ninth Street in advance of Thursday's shoot here for the 1960s period piece "Inside Llewyn Davis."
Whatever you think abut the Coen Brothers (have you watched "Blood Simple" lately?) ... it brings back some film-shoot cred around here after "The Smurfs" and "Step Up 3D."
Previously on EV Grieve:
The Coen Brothers want to dress up East Ninth Street
Coen Brothers Week begins here tomorrow

Step Up 3D returns to the East Village
Filming continues today and tomorrow in the East Village on what will likely be the greatest 3D movie about teen street dancers ever made. Parts of Third Avenue, Second Avenue, Ninth Street, 10th Street and 11th Street will be affected by the dance fever.

A movie that people may actually want to see filming in the East Village
You know, it's usually "Step Up 3D" or the Smurfs movie...
An independent movie called "A Late Quartet" will be filming in and around the East Village this winter... such as on Seventh Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue tomorrow... and later this week on Avenue C... the film stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener...
According to Variety: "Story centers on a quartet whose members have performed together for 25 years and have to adjust to one of them retiring due to Parkinson's disease."
It's worth noting that Frederick Elmes is serving as the director of photography... he has worked with Jim Jarmusch and David Lynch, including "Wild at Heart," "Blue Velvet" and "Eraserhead."

'Gossip Girl' returns to the East Village, a headline that may score me some awesome SEO!
Well, I've pretty much stopped mentioning when TV shows and movies are filming around the East Village... It's pretty commonplace. Unless! It's a life-altering production, such as "The Smurfs 2: We Spit on Your Grave" and "Step Up 3D." And, "Gossip Girl," which will be filming on parts of Avenue A and Ninth Street, etc., on Friday.
The drama, popular among young adults, has an all-star cast that includes teen stars Willie Aames, Kristy MacNichol and Melissa Gilbert.
Careful, E, hell hath no fury like a "Gossip Girl" fan scorned.
