[Updated] Neighbors ask Con Ed to water this tree 'dying of thirst'

Someone has placed a homemade sign in this dusty tree pit outside the Con Ed substation on Sixth Street at Avenue A...

"Dear Con Ed,

I am dying of thirst

Please... when you get a chance"

Misleading headline. The neighbors aren't asking ConEd. The tree is. As the update shows, it doesn't know the details of the various bureaucracies, but at least it probably made its own paper.

So in this case, I guess Con Ed isn't "On It"?

With all the on-going constructions, so many trees been chopped down in this neighborhood. Sad.

WIY

Seriously, why does Con Ed have to water it? Since when does Con Ed water trees?

I'm not defending them, just saying you can water the tree yourself.

ConEd probably wants the tree to die so they can get their hands on more parking space.

Maybe Con Ed is hedging their bets and waiting for a hurricane deluge.
