My old block! Nice pic.
The biggest changes I can see are in the road: modes of transport, numbers of pedestrians. The tree in the lower left looks exactly the same: could it be the same tree, maxed out at that height for a century?
The address-today-is 288 east 10th street.Viewing the history here gives some idea of when the photo was taken (1884 to 1911). http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/12/16/east-village-church-and-midtown-building-are-newest-landmarks/?pagemode=print
I can't get enough of then & now photos. It puts so much in perspective for me. Thanks for this one.
