Shake Shack signage appears outside new Lower East Side outpost

The green glow of the familiar Shake Shack neon signage can now be seen behind the plywood at the chain's newest outpost on Rivington and Norfolk. (First reported back in June.)

The Shack takes over the space — vacant for five years — from Schiller’s Liquor Bar, which closed after 14 years in 2017.

No word yet on an opening date — this outpost has yet to appear on the Shaker's website.

Thanks to EVG reader Mitch Lerner for the photo!

A reminder that Shake Shack use Martin's Potato Rolls, a company that heavily funded and openly supported naked racist/homophobe/election-denier/christo-fascist Doug Mastriano in his failed PA gubernatorial campaign.

Not only that, Shake Shack was stubbornly resolute in rejecting criticism about this from its customers.

It's important to vote with your wallet as it is with your ballot (unless your fix of dead cow is far more important than a working democracy and a livable future).

It's illegal for stores not to accept cash. If that's the case, you should definitely report it to the city. Van Leeuwen defied the city for a long time but eventually paid a steep fine!

I hope it doesn’t smell like a grease cloud like it does by Astor place. Would appreciate the ventilation situation being considered for the neighborhood air quality.
