This shop may not be long for this (Bong) world

Your whole Bong World just may be turned upside down.

The gate remains down at Bong World, 226 E. 14th St. between Second Avenue and Third Avenue (though BWWers — Bong World Watchers — have told us they keep offbeat hours).

Now, there's trouble in the form of an eviction notice on the gate... dated this past Tuesday with an order to vacate the Bong HQ by Aug. 30...
Bong World debuted here to some fanfare in March 2022

If this turns out to be a permanent closure, we don't know where people will go now for smoking accessories in the neighborhood.

What landlord rents out to an illegal weed store and thinks this is a sustainable option.

When in doubt, do a bong. HA!

I love illegal weed shops giving the middle finger to the city and governor, both of whom are hungry for more tax dollars to fund their ridiculous and unfavorable mandates.

Can we please stop reporting on these smokeshops, both closures and openings? They literally don't matter.

Grieve - appreciate the reportage on these blights and parasites the negative shift in energy in the nabe (and whole city actually) since the free-for-all of weed shops is an interesting sociologically and important from an urban planning perspective so many other states and cities have legalized weed without the kind of blatant entitled lawlessness that we've experienced in NY i say this as someone who fought for and supports legal cannabis so thank you for digging in and keeping us in the know with what is going on in our community, as always great reporting Long May You Publish!

The shop on Second Ave. that used to have the giant bean bag chairs out front and the guys that tried to coax people inside has completely morphed into a coffee shop.
