From Hysteria to... suburbia?

The long-vacated Waldorf Hysteria space at 165 Avenue B between 10th Street and 11th Street...

...got the plywood treatment earlier this summer. The proprietor of the dry cleaners next door told me that offices were being created on the ground floor.

Well, here's what it looks like now...

Hmm, well, seems about right. Something with a little character is replaced by something very sterile looking...

I miss WH. The chain-smoking chic who ran it was a panic. She made me buy so much shit I didn't need. Loved her.

Also miss Wanda(?) from Trinkets and Treasures on East 4th.

Is that a ranger station?

Ha! Excellent. It's like Liar's Club. Who's telling the truth...

@Lux Living. I remember her? (I think!) Didn't she own the store with her husband? Seems like a long time ago...

That brick is so shiny. What I really like is the little light above the door, which will keep away burglars for sure.

whoa, that is a bizarre little building-front. looks like queens.

i loved waldorf too... i have so much stuff in my apt from there... lucite-and-leopard barstool, great vintage glassware, big blue & purple ginger-jar lamp, and one of those plastic "spaghetti" lamps (google them, they're awesome), furniture, wall art... awwww i'm sad now. i had my eye on some other stuff when they just disappeared one day.

but i saw the chain-smoking proprietess riding her bike up avenue A a couple of weeks ago.
