Why people will be running and eating pizza and stuff tomorrow in Tompkins Square Park

Oh, tomorrow marks the second annual NYC Pizza Run at Tompkins Square Park. Ninety runners, uh, run 2.25 miles, stopping at three checkpoints to eat slices of pizza.

If you want to take part, you're too late. It's booked.

If you want to take pictures of runners throwing up pizza, then please send them to our friends at EV Heave.

You can find more info here.

This stupid frat mentality is taking over, wtf! It's bad enough, with the rash of new stupid bars opening (you know who you are) I thought it hit it's nadir with that ridiculous "Santa Con" last winter. How about growing up people? Our economy is on the verge of collapse, we've got wars going on, racist yahoos are trying to take over the govt! Wake up! Grow Up!

Um. Proceeds go to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) (cough, sputter...irony?). And they're bringing in pizza from Midtown? Seriously? I mean, it's not like we already have some great pizza options in the EV. Maybe they just didn't want to be associated with the hurl fest.

believe it or not... we've never had anybody throw up before. and don't anticipate that happening this year!

Can someone let the new frat children from the suburbs know that they should train on the track by the east river instead of on the sidewalks? Or run their daily on the street not sidewalk? I hate dodging sweaty yippies as I slowly creep with coffee in hand on the sidewalks of the EV.
