Why they'll be 'Contempt' tonight in Tompkins Square Park

As our friend Esquared told us ... the Films on the Green Festival will present a few French movies in Tompkins Square Park this summer.

And tonight: Jean-Luc Godard's "Contempt" from 1963 starring (hubba hubba!) Brigitte Bardot, Michel Piccoli and Jack Palance.

And on July 1: "Mr. Hulot's Holiday." Or, as we prefer — Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot.

The movies start at 8:30 p.m. Drink at your own risk.

Meanwhile, we're still wondering why the French hate us so much.
