Cool off today with a souvenir piece of the Icicle Audi ice

As you likely remember, the biggest story this — or any other, really — year was the Icicle Audi on East Second Street. (No? All you need to know is right here.)

As we exclusively reported on Jan. 24, the owner of the Icicle Audi was able to chip away enough of the ice-covered Audi to move it... and he left behind Icicle Audi ice for various souvenir collectors. Like us!

Instead of selling a souvenir chunk of ice then – when the eyes of the world were on the Icicle Audi... we waited until it got hot out ... when people may be more desperate for a chunk of ice — a liquid of unknown burst NYC water pipe origins frozen into this solid toxic state. And taking up room in the freezer.

So, behold — with a newspaper for authenticity ...

Bid early and often — and quickly. I've already heard from those guys at Death & Co.

Bonus January flashback!

wow, that's dedication and planning! but what if its toxins contaminated your stash of frozen TV dinners?

Well, all my TV dinners are artisanal and gluten-free, so I'm in the clear. Plus, I think you only need a little grated nutmeg on the top of your drink to neutralize the toxins.

If you flavor it Raspberry I'll consider it.

ITALIAN TUNDRA
Toss a chunk of your Audi Icicle into a cocktail shaker, add a lot of Campari and shake. Garnish with a lemon twist. Mmmmmm.

You weirdo.

for a safer method just hold it onto the back of your neck to cool off - in a towel or cloth to prevent stains.

maybe you could wash it first.

i can't believe you saved some audi ice. did you really?

@Blueglass

Yes! I actually saved a chunk. For some reason.

True

or you can take advantage of the new fad for the newbies and tourists, and start peddling flavored shaved ice at a spot in the extended highline for $5-7 or more

and then apply for a liquor license promising that there'll be 'food' in your stand -- and make don't forget to make them artisanal

I have a feeling Gruber MacDougal is managing this whole thing and it makes me sick. Exploitation of ice during a heat wave...right up that son of a bitch's alley!

Is the Icicle Audi still on that block? The winner should be photographed on the hood, eating this ice. In a bikini. I bid $1.

I'm in for five bucks, but only if I can eat the ice in front of that son of a bitch Gruber MacDougal wearing a bikini while he tells me what the winner of the Christmas tree contest gets in prizes!

@WB - No, Icicle Audi is long gone. After incurring $7300 in repairs, the owner traded the Audi in at the Infiniti dealer in Manhasset (Long Island):

$7300 in repairs!!! The guy should have towed Icicle Audi to a warm garage and waited for the ice to melt off.

@ Tom & WB

Actually, the Audi is in my freezer too.

Hmm. In that first picture, I just thought the NY Post had included a photo of the Weiner wiener package on it's cover. (I should put on my glasses)

I'd heard a tale that Allen Ginsburg kept a pot of homemade corn chowder in his freezer the last year of his life. After he died, friends kept it in there until the blackout of (2003?) when it was rushed to some emergency freezer on the UES. I have no idea if any of this is true, but I wonder if you have a plan in case we have another blackout this summer. What will happen to the Audicicle?? Perhaps you should look into cryogenic storage..
