[EVG flashback] These are a few of the photos you'll find when you search for "Carrie Bradshaw" on Flickr

Yesterday, Curbed noted that 64 Perry Street is now on the market... For worse, this 1866 West Village rowhouse serves as the stand-in for Carrie Bradshaw's home on "Sex and the City." This item reminded me that! For some reason, I left the neighborhood to do this post, which first appeared on June 2, 2008...

Part of the Sex and the City tours includes a stop at this Perry Street townhouse in the West Village. Yes, this is the stoop that the Carrie Bradshaw character sits on in the show. (Actually, five different stoops were used; this one most frequently, I'm told by someone who really likes and knows the show.)

According to Forbes: The show, which made a fifth character out of New York City, attracts fans to the Big Apple in droves, and locals cash in. Location Tours offers a three-hour bus tour that stops at shops and bars that have appeared on the show. The tour costs $40 a head, and its owners say it attracts as many as 1,000 people a week. Destination on Location Travel offers "set-jetting" weekends in New York, where groups of up to twelve women are shuttled around town and given the fantasy that they're one of the four Sex characters. The price: a hefty $15,000 per person.

dunno why you're bashing the tourists... let them enjoy their tv show. it's the ones who moved here and the people who supported their homogenization of the city you should go after.

I find it laughable that stupid young girls from all across America share the same dream: To come to New York and live the Sex in the City Life. That show, despite being cast with women is about successful young gay men having fun and being fabulous. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I often run into Matt Broderick; he lives by where I work. I've always been nice, never mentioning that his wife contributed to one of the greatest destruction of urban culture since the fall of Rome (or something like that).

While I don't work by him anymore, I always wanted to ask him if any of the cast - especially his wife - actually bought the show's premise in any degree of seriousness. I suppose due to the franchise being popular they can't say a damn thing.

Lastly, based on the sheer volume of women on dating sites (I once registered and had 90 emails in the first day) and how loudly they bitch about how bad the men are here, I suppose the lack of "sex" in "Sex & The City" will eventually drive them back to their high school sweethearts in parts west.

Here, girls, please... take these cupcakes with you.

@Shawn, I'll see your Sex and the City and raise you a douche-glorifying, fist-pumping, Escalade-driving Entourage. Men in small towns everywhere strutting around with inflated self-images and even worse wardrobes thinking they're pussy magnets instead of overweight day shift managers with fake tans hawking cell phones at T-Mobile.

Not saying Sex and the City is great, but for every woman you speak of on these dating sites there's a male counterpart.

If all these women are so inspired by Carrie Bradshaw, why are they all dressed so unimaginatively? I;ve got no problem with tourists inspired by their TV, but can't they at least be actually inspired?

Ha. This is cracking me up, because I subscribe to just about every point in this blog, but I can also say with about 100% certainty that if my wife was to walk by these steps she would pose for a picture on them she loves that show so much. What the fuck is guy to do?!
