Otto's to reopen by the weekend

After yesterday morning's fire, we asked the good people at Otto's Shrunken Head for a report on the bar's status... here's the word from co-owner Nell Mellon:

"We are still waiting on final reports from the Fire marshalls. Thankfully no one was hurt and the damage is confined to the backroom. We hope to have the front open in a few days. Definitely for the weekend. The backroom is another story. That will take much more time."

Glad the fire wasn't too bad and they are reopening. Every time a business catches fire on that stretch of 14th Street all I can think of is the article a few years back that said developers wanted to make it into the new Meatpacking district with clubs and such.

I am assuming that the backline is destroyed.

I played many shows in the back room. Haven't been there in a while, but I loved that place. I hope the backline gets replaced so that bands starting out will have a place to play. Please don't become a bar only like so other crappy place nearby *cough*Hifi*cough*

Best of luck to Nell!
