Mammad Mahmoodi, co-founder and executive director of East Village Loves NYC, came to his car yesterday morning to find that someone smashed in his rear window and the passenger side window and door.
The thief made off with some shoes Mahmoodi planned to donate yesterday at the Sixth Street Community Center, the home base for East Village Loves NYC.
There were other reports of smash-and-grabs on Fifth Street and Avenue D and Sixth Street between Avenue A and Avenue B (and likely more).
Mahmoodi filed a report with the 9th Precinct, which apparently has turned this into a felony case.

I'd start the investigation with the rabid anti street parking contingent.
Sorry to hear this crap going on - so senseless and now all these car owners have to make time to get this damaged fixed, deal with insurance agencies etc.

Damage resulting in thousands of dollars of repairs, plus THEFT - hell, yeah, that's FELONY! I hope the police find out who did this.

So good to see the NYPD turning this into a felony case. Hopefully they catch the people who did it quickly and the book is thrown at them quickly.
As a member of the “rabid anti street parking contingent” I didn’t do it, bro. Wanting a cleaner and less cluttered city doesn’t imply property damage.
Whomever did this and continues to do this needs therapy pronto.

It would be appropriate for the “no car” folks to acknowledge all the good done by Mr. Mahmoodi - and that clearly he needs a vehicle for this work.
