Anyway, signage outside the Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers at 10 Astor Place at Lafayette Street notes 7 days until the grand opening. Given Steven took that photo yesterday, we're down to 6 days.
As reported in April 2022, the Louisiana-based company specializing in fried chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries and Texas toast signed a 20-year lease for 4,300 square feet of space on the ground floor.
The quick-serve Raising Cane's has more than 600 restaurants in 32 states... including one that opened in late June in Times Square.
No. 10 was, until August 2020, a Walgreens.

How many chicken feet it takes to count 7 fingers?
before Walgreens it was the original outpost of Astor Wines
That’s a huge space for a shop selling chicken fingers and fries. Good luck making the rent 🙄
Normally I'd scoff. But I think this will be a blockbuster in 2023. America's love for boneless chicken keeps growing. NYU students in particular will be helpless against.
If you've never been to a Raising Cane's, the chicken fingers are undeniably tasty. I'll always take a local place over a chain, but as far as chains go, you could do much worse.
My roommate is from Baton Rouge, which is where Canes is based. I am from Connecticut and never heard of them until recently. He says Canes makes the best chicken fingers ever, even better than Popeye's. He can't wait till they open. Will this be a good addition to our neighborhood? Inquiring minds want to know.
With the prices they charge at the NYC outpost, they can make it. They are only using one floor compared to the 2 previously used by Walgreens.
Canes is all about the sauce. The fries are weak, and the chicken fingers are completely un-seasoned. If you like the sauce you will think it’s amazing, if you don’t you will be very disappointed.
I just want the Popeye's near A and 14th to finally open. They have the best chicken fingers in my opinion.
I tried this place tonight. Unless you enjoy the atmosphere of a junior high cafeteria the day before spring break, I recommend waiting until NYU goes out of session. They were absolutely packed and the place was loud.
That said, the chicken is good. As someone said above, the sauce is very good and brings the flavor. They did not give me my drink, but as the place was so chaotic, I decided to just leave without it.
