At the Seventh Street crime scene

As DNAinfo reported earlier this morning, the body of a 21-year-old man with stab wounds to his neck was found outside 272 Seventh St. between Avenue C and Avenue D...

Detectives continue to work the crime scene. There is an unsubstantiated account from several onlookers of a second victim.

With news crews arriving on the scene, there will certainly be further reports today.

REPOSTING THIS COMMENT FROM EAST VILLAGE LOCAL NYTIMES:

I don’t know if these are related, but last night at about 2-3 AM (not positive of the time, but as Via Della Place was closing up), there was a group of street kids getting in a verbal altercation with another kid wearing a white shirt (a “carpenter” [as described by his friend who came out to mediate/have his back] who pulled out a wad of cash). Supposedly the carpenter had hit one of the girls in the face (she had been treated by EMTs in an ambulance). One of the guys (who had a very raspy loud voice) had then apparently maced the carpenter. I didn’t see any of this, but saw them squaring off against each other after the ambulance/cops left. The carpenter said he hit her after the girl tried to steal all his cash after he had given her a dollar (out of charity). There was a lot of talk about the raspy kid being a wimp for not fighting and using mace. The carpenter (wearing a white wifebeater shirt) kept offering himself to fight one-on-one in the open. There were several threats from both sides that if they saw each other again they’d kill each other.

The folks at Via Della Place interacted with them a bit to get them to move on. Again, it may not be related at all, but it’s worth a look.

Yikes! I'm on 9th and C and was cursing the helicopters this morning! I feel bad. I hope they catch the guy!
