The interior gutting commenced earlier this month.
Last June, hospitality vet Curt Huegel, whose portfolio includes concepts such as Bill's Townhouse, Campagnola and Printers Alley, received Community Board approval for the unnamed establishment. There was some debate over closing time, and the committee wouldn't approve a 4 a.m. close. Huegel did not respond to previous emails about whether he was still taking the prime space.
Dallas BBQ closed this past December after anchoring the corner since the mid-1980s. According to staff, the building's landlord would not renew the chainlet's lease and opted to rent the space to another business.

What were the issues with Jackdaw that some mentioned in the other post, in regards to Huegel?
Change is good only if it's a change for the better that said Kurt Huegel who owns Jackdaw only shut down the loud loud LOUD outdoor music when it was brought up at the CB3 SLA meeting and looked to threaten his getting approval for this spot as someone who lives close to this establishment i pray he's seen the light and going to be good neighbor to all on the block and keep it quiet
The spot is up for rent, who knows when and what the corner will become. Anyone excited for things becoming nothing is either young or trying to be a troll. Disgusting, tagged up, bombed out, vacant spots are not edgy, they are just sad.
There's already 2 spots just steps away on the same block with very loud music bothering residents all weekend late into the evening, so I suspect if he's planning to do the same he'll get away with it.
Jackdaw is still unnecessarily loud. I get playing music for people to dance to at night, but during the day when people are just dining and talking to their friends, there's no reason everyone has to scream because the music is so loud.
