A group of unhoused residents have been living on the NE corner under the sidewalk bridge in recent months (a corridor dubbed Anarchy Road) ... which has also been a focal point of ongoing sweeps by multiple city agencies, including members of the NYPD, the Department of Sanitation and the Department of Homeless Services.
For now, there aren't any signs of the residents... a few of the messages, all directed toward Mayor Adams and the NYPD, remain in the roadway despite the power washing...

Good riddance.
I didn't think that was effective activism. Housing is a huge problem embedded in the entire system but camping in the East Village and shouting a lot isn't going to move the needle at all.
They are working on the roadway this morning; there was too much traffic to get to it yesterday afternoon, they said.
They’re out there finishing the cleaning job now.
The needle is moving all right. That's part of the problem. It's way than a housing issue.
The anti-police rhetoric is so tired. Nail him on crime, bail reform, lack of housing, addiction resources...
Was there any follow up to the residents that were interviewed a few fewer ago?

I hope the city will bill these unhoused residents for graffiti cleanup. Good neighbors don’t create a mess for others to clean up.
PS122 needs to remove the scaffolding!! It's been there for no apparent reason for 20 years!!
