Another day, another smoke shop reveal in the East Village

In 2022, no one will be able to say the neighborhood is lacking in places to buy smokes and snacks.

Pinch shares this recent reveal at 223 E. 14th St. between Second Avenue and Third Avenue... where signage is up for Smokers Zone 1. The signage promises a smoke shop, snacks and drinks, and vaporizers.

This marks what seems like the 87th* smoke shop to open here in the last year.

This storefront has been vacant since Fat Cat Kitchen closed in late 2019 after 2.5 years in business.

LES Convenience is coming soon for your convenience on Avenue A

The proliferation of smoke-snack shops continues. 

Signage for LES Convenience arrived late last week at 105 Avenue A between Sixth Street and Seventh Street. The signage promises an ATM, snacks, drinks, hookah and more. 

No. 105 was previously home to Hub Thai, which moved to 50 Avenue A this past March. 

LES Convenience will mark the third deli-snack-smoke establishment to open on the west side of Avenue A within three blocks. A more-upscale looking deli-market is coming to 93 Avenue A ... while a mystery deli-market is said to be in the works for 123 Avenue A. 

Meanwhile, I would have been happy if East Village Farms had never vanished at 100 Avenue A.

Holy smokes! Another accessories store setting up shop, this time on 2nd Street

Signage is up now for Manhattan Smoke Shop here on Second Street east of First Avenue... making it the fifth or sixth like-minded store to open in the neighborhood in the past few months (here and here and here and here, for example). 

And the business is a few feet away from the Deli & Smoke Shop...

... though they distinguish themselves by offering beer and Boar's Head — and White Claw Variety Packs. 

The Manhattan Smoke Shop takes the place of a short-lived taco shop. (Or was it a hookah place?)

For your convenience: another smoke shop

103 St. Mark's Place is the new home of the incoming Saint Marks Convenience & Smoke Shop here between Avenue A and First Avenue. 

Unlike the ubiquitous shops that have seemingly popped all over the neighborhood, this one apparently won't be selling beer. (So no Smoke & Beer! Just Smoke!) 

This retail portion of the building was last Satori Holistic Wellness & Beauty.

A new St. Mark's Place-like business opens on St. Mark's Place

New business alert from 18 St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and Third Avenue... a smoke shop is now open in the space ... where you can pick up, say, a new ​downstem and bowl​, ash catcher, carb cap or other ​water pipe accessories​...



At the time of these photos on Sunday (thanks Steven!) there wasn't a business sign up... the previous tenant here, Addiction NYC, the tattoo parlor and smoke shop, closed at the beginning of the year.

Smoke Shop & Convenience Inc. slated for 14th Street

The coming-soon signage is up at 246 E. 14th St. between Second Avenue and Third Avenue ... announcing the ever-popular shops that sell smoking supplies, sodas, beers, etc.

I believe the previous tenant here was a discount place called Gift Mart. (Anyone?)

How about a new smoke shop for East Houston

Coming soon signage is up at 279 E. Houston between Clinton and Suffolk...

This smoke shop will sell a little something for everyone vaporizers, E-juices, tobacco, grinders, cigars, soda and beer, per the sign...



The storefront was previously home to the boutique A Little Wicked. As BoweryBoogie noted in May 2014, the proprietors behind the now-shuttered Scarab Lounge on First Avenue wanted to open something called Zu Zu Lounge Hookah Bar in the space. That never happened.

East Village Smoke Shop & Grocery now open on Avenue A

The small shop is up and running at 89 Avenue A near East Sixth Street... aside from the smoking-related supplies, they sell the usual deli fare (sodas, gum, snacks, etc.)

The former tenant here, D-Lish Pita, closed last summer.

Another smoke shop for Avenue A

Several readers have told us that a smoke shop is opening in the former D-Lish Pita space on Avenue A at East Sixth Street... we haven't been by when anyone has been working on the space... though the gate is partially open, revealing some of the items that will be for sale...





The store is next door to 99¢ Pizza, which opened in late December. As for smoke shops on Avenue A, Smoke & Beer opened between East 13th Street and East 14th Street earlier this month.

Anyway, it's nice that some new retail shops are opening ahead of the residential developments going up ... like this one... and this one.. and this one ... and this one.. and this one.
