Upscale slices for the former Totale space?

Totale Pizza on St. Mark's Place near Second Avenue has been closed of late...

Last May!

Workers have been renovating the space that specialized in Neapolitan-style pizza ... and a tipster reports that this will become a more upscale, quick-slice joint to complement 2 Bros up the street...

2 bros is the worst pizza in the world, but obviously the people who go there (and there are so many) don't give a shit. They'd obviously eat cardboard if it had cheese and cost a buck. Totale seems to think they'll battle with quality, and I wish them luck, but they'd probably be better off using cheaper ingredients and charging 75 cents.

I'm all for upscale pizza slices but seems rather pointless in that area as the best (cheap) slices have always been at Stromboli at St. Mark's & 1st Ave.

"Earlier this week, bloggers scratched their heads over Totale Pizzeria, a mysterious St. Marks newcomer serving Neapolitan pies. We’ve now discovered that the improbably elegant digs are the handiwork of Eli Halali, who owns 2 Bros. a couple of doors down with his brother."
