[Updated] EV Grieve Eatery Etc.: AAA Amici Pizza looking closed; Glaze starting delivery

EVG reader Jodi noted that AAA Amici Pizza (formerly New Amici and Due Amici, right?) on Third Avenue at East 12th Street has been closed... the gates were down when we went by last evening. And no one is answering the phone. See if we can learn more about what's happening here today... (Another victim of the Nicoletta Effect?) Also, a new cafe is in the works adjacent here in the the long-closed D&M Convenience store on East 12th Street.

UPDATED: AAA Amici Pizza is back open...

----------

The folks at Glaze — the Seattle-style teriyaki place on Fourth Avenue near East 13th Street — sent us a note saying that they are now delivering to parts of the area... from 11 am until 10:30 pm ... for now, the delivery zone spans from Avenue A to Sixth Avenue, and from East Fourth Street to 23rd Street.

Have you eaten here? I tried it and liked it...

They are also up for a beer-wine license during Monday's CB3-SLA committee meeting.

----------

And Zagat noted that the Filipino Gastropub called Jeepney on First Avenue near East 12th Street opened last night (read more about it here) ... and maybe they are saving money on vowels and stuff on the sign...

Sandwiched in between all the new developments on 3rd, with mostly forgetable or missing retail, how long will it take for that group of 6 tenement buildings to be torn down? The new zoning encourages it. I wonder if the apartment tennants have received eviction or non-renewal letters?

The missing letters are currently applying for a liquor license.

Meant to check it out last night, but got doghaired at Hair of the Dog, instead, Woooooo[f].

Seems like it'll be today's Elvie's Turo-Turo, which I miss along with the original Krystal's Cafe on 1st Ave.

glaze is pretty good.
i don't think it is of the same quality as the glaze uptown.
however, the folks there were very nice and i'll probably go back again, even though i had a tough chicken dish, the steak and pork were pretty tender, and the veggie side was good but small

YES! Elvies turo-turo. Once upon a time, there was Little Manila at around 14th St. and 1st Avenue. Elvies is now Kumo Sushi. There was also Manila Garden, a filipino piano bar, on 14th and first, now a Verizon Wireless store. Krystals Cafe had "authentic karaoke" before karaoke was an in thing. Krystals is now Momofuck U Noodle Bar.

As for Jeepny, like Maharlika, it's just be a novelty and cater to the pretentious trendy hipsters, even Filipino hipsters. Good for the proprietors, but another fly spot that won't last. They won't have as much regulars as the Little Manila food stores of then. Another place for the trendsetters to consume and leave once they've tired of the place, like locusts.
