What it costs to live close enough to throw a stone to Union Square

Here we are at 137 E. 13th St. between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue... Several rentals are on the market, such as this two bedroomer for $6,250 per month:

I don't understand why it's so great to live near Union Square. TGI Fridays, Staples, Petco...

True now. But the people buying these places are probably out of towners, whose image of Union Square is at least ten years of date.

The apartment looks kind of crappy when you consider the bathroom fixtures look dated and cheap, the walls are obviously super thin (and is that a hollow core door leading to the "living room"?), and the layout looks clumsy.

The only reason why I'd want to live by Union Square would be because it's not a far walk from the East Village and LES and because it's near many subway lines.
