$4.3 to $16 MM in under 10 years? Wow. I hope they at least gutted the place and the new owners don't have to do anything to it...

If the trend continues, they ought to be able to pull $64 million out of the property in ten years! Hurrah!

"Vibrant arts scene" may be an oxymoron.

they keep selling the east village while they tear it down building by building. This listing is close to reality.

Perfectly located ... East Village, ... one of the hottest areas in New York City ... great nightlife, a vibrant art scene and incredible restaurants ... filled with luxury Condominiums and beautiful Townhouses.

Yeah, the townhouses were beautiful too, long before the "fultures" came to pick the carcass.

P.S. "Fultures" are vultures from the future. 'Cept they are here now!

Cannot wait for current owner to sell; good riddance! She throws loud, obnoxious parties, and also rents the building out (to people who sometimes throw loud parties) and she has generally been a miserable neighbor. She & her family have shown no respect for anyone else on her side of the block, nor for the neighbors on the opposite side of 12th St. from her - we have all been subjected to horrendous noise from parties that start early and go to 1am and beyond.

@7:46am: Gutted? Ha! "Did as little as possible" is more like it; mostly cosmetic work from what can be seen. Close inspection of the facade will reveal the place is going to need a lot of work. Window sills facing the street were all left "as is" - presumably b/c owner thought it was some kind of boho charm.

And asking $16 million? This is a house in search of a sucker. No other building on the block (and all the townhouses are built to pretty much the same dimensions) has sold for anything near that.

It is a beautiful building inside and out and what looks like a lot of original details. the next owner may not appreciate the history and make a white bland modern box out of it, let's hope not. If you have $16 million and want a bland box to live in may I suggest a glass box on the Bowery?

12:29 is totally correct. Hopefully the new owners won't have constant loud parties.

Yeah...I've walked past at one in the afternoon to see those loud parties going on.

Well...supposedly the high end r.e. market is teetering. We shall see.

"This area of Manhattan is filled with luxury Condominiums and beautiful Townhouses." Yep, that's getting to be about it - thanks for nothing.

Either it's a single family house or it has a rental unit, but not both as claimed in the listing.

Supposedly coming back on for $7.8 million.
