PaTea is opening its second NYC location at 227 E. 14th St. between Second Avenue and Third Avenue... Per the signage: "The first Stubby Cup in the East Coast."
Here's more about the company:
[W]e are a family owned business and we strive to bring the authenticity of Taiwanese bubble tea to everyone.
The name “Patea” is from the concept of “It’s Party Time”. Our passion is to bring joy and a fun experience to all customers while experimenting on some of the newly innovated flavors.
The first PaTea opened at 135 Mott St. in 2013.
The previous tenant here, a mobile phone business, came and went very quickly.
Meanwhile, directly across 14th Street, the sign is now up for the incoming Pink Bear Ice Cream, which specializes in rolled ice cream...
Also directly across the street, another bubble tea shop.

Wasn't bubble tea three trends ago, in the innocent times before vape shops, vegan sugar-fat emporiums, and rolled ice cream? Bubble tea is positively quaint, harkening back to the froyo and juice bar days of yore.
I guess young people like this stuff, right?
As upsetting as it is to see another bubble tea shop coming into the area, I have to imagine it'll be better than the previous tenant -- the mobile phone business.
I'm happy to report that their marketing strategy, which involved playing obnoxiously loud pop music and handing out flyers on hover boards, did not prove successful. Good riddance.
Low-class joints hawking sugary crap. I like ice cream and desserts just fine but getting tired of seeing these chintzy fly-by-night looking businesses.
Ugh, "stubby" is one of those words like "moist" that skeeve me out.
It's summer in the EV...iced coffees, egg creams or lime rickeys.
As you were.
Welcome to Flushing West.
