The "bad old days" are here again story of the day

Via The Daily News!

The city's murder rate has shot up nearly 15% this year, and residents in the worst-hit precincts are worried New York is headed back to darker days.

The NYPD recorded 437 murders as of Sunday, compared with 382 in the same period last year.

Yes, please, spread the good word! It's the only way to keep the interlopers from buying us out.

Got a 401K? Save yourselves - find a different neighborhood to move to.

Yes. I removed it. Shouldn't have gone up in the first place. Thanks for the comment.

Stats prove time and time again that most people are murdered by people they know (relatives, mates, etc.).

Just a friendly reminder to keep your words soft and sweet because you never know when you'll have to eat them.. or suffer a knife being thrust in your chest because of an escalated argument.

The missing link here is Adrian Schoolcraft. Now that crime is being reported (somewhat more) honestly, it looks like the numbers took a sudden spike. When the Schoolcraft heat dies down, the NYPD will return to their old tricks of downplaying and downgrading crimes, discouraging victims from reporting and just being all-around assholes.

If the bad old days really do return you won't be calling the cops a-holes.

Why? Because you'll need them - or because they'll put 41 bullets in you? Wouldn't it be great if you could trust cops and most of them were good - instead of the other way around (e.g. most are assholes and only the minority are honorable) - we should look to cops to protect us - instead there is good reason to fear cops - even when you are obeying the law - cops see all of us as scum - it's no wonder most sensible people have a low opinion of cops. Sorry for stating the obvious :(

A recent study says that you are much more likely to be killed by a cop than a terrorist.
