Now that we're done looking at pretty pictures of snow...

... we're hearing about what hell it was getting around via the MTA...

The long wait for an L this morning at 14th Street... pic via Nat Esten, who said "what a mess."

We also heard from people waiting for buses... that never came, even though the Avenues were clear...

That's pretty much what it looked like at the 2nd Ave station this morning waiting for the F. I finally got on the 4th train that came through the station. Got some beautiful pics of madison sq park on my lunchbreak though.

Yes. I take the F uptown at the 2nd Avenue stop to get to work. Because we were allowed a 2-hour delay at work, I didn't bother to get to the platform until about 8:45. I waited on that platform until 9:20 or so, waiting for a train empty enough for me to fit onto. I had to allow three packed trains to come and go before I bothered to slip in the 4th train. This ticked me off so much! WTF!? How is the MTA so ill-equipped to deal with EVERY SNOWFALL!????? I only take the train 8 stops to work so it's not like I'm asking for much!

How do people in Buffalo manage to deal with 3 feet of snow while we come to a standstill with half of that?

It probably doesn't matter now, but there are buses running on Ave A.

sorry for all the people that waited for a bus this morning. i take the bus to work almost daily, but when i looked out my window this morning i new the bus would be bad news. mta.info was down (go figure) but other nyc news sites were reporting that the MTA had suspended all bus service. everyone should know by now (several snowstorms into the season) to plan ahead and check before heading out. this one was way worse than anyone was expecting...

Ha, I was waiting for the uptown F too, from 8.40 to 9am or so, and someone peed at the end of the platform, near where I was standing. It stank, and yet no one moved, because we would've lost our spots by the platform edge, and probably would've had to wait even longer to get onto a train. Gotta <3 NY.

Hey, Ryan and Anon 3:43 - The three of us who were on the 2nd Avenue platform this morning need to come up with hand signals so we can figure each other out. :)
(I was Anon 1:28)

From now on I'll keep my right hand's index and middle fingers open in the "v" shape (or peace sign) as I hold my bag or rest it at my side to reprezent EV Grieve.

Definitely need some hand signals in there to take my mind off the threat that someone will be pissing off the platform. As if the trains weren't bad enough, wait till he hits the third rail and takes it out of service. And in that last sentence I think "it" would mean both the train and his dick.
