NYPD pulls over cyclist this morning on the Bowery

We've reported on cyclists who received tickets for blowing through red lights... (like here)...

This morning, the NYPD pulled over this fellow at First Street on the Bowery... Word is he zipped through the intersection at Houston and the Bowery without stopping for the light...

We stood around awkwardly for an awkwardly long time (how long can you pretend to look at Steven Tyler's clothing line?) to see if the officers would write him a ticket... we left when our cover was blown... Don't look at the camera! Stay in character!

Hmm, I've heard that cyclist have been getting tickets more often recently. I have a bike for the first time in over 2 year, so I was wondering if anyone else has gotten "pulled over" by cops in cars/mopeds?

I don't make going through lights a habit, but I have been known to look both ways and cross the street when no cars are in sight.

Good. I'm happy for the bike lanes but it's crazy now, the light changes you have the green to cross and a bike in the bike lane almost takes you out. It's gotten so you can't safely walk around the EV drunk anymore...whooooooooooooo!

what would happen if cars looked "both ways and crossed the street when no cars are in sight."?

If cyclists want to be taken seriously, if they want their own lane then they got to play by the rules. Stop on red, give pedestrians the right of way.

This is great . People should obey the law. Now, I hope they start ticketing all the NYU kids that cross against the light while sending text messages on their drone phones.
