Speaking of wind, not to be alarming, but there is a GALE WARNING (!!!) in effect until 6 p.m. So this is not the day to see if the skiff might be seaworthy.
Per the Weather Channel:
WHAT...Northeast winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt and seas 2 to 4 feet.WHERE...Long Island Sound west of Port Jefferson and New Haven, and New York Harbor.WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT this evening.IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.
Speaking of the Mariners, Seattle made the playoffs this year.

Booths at the Brooklyn Book Festical have been cancelled dueto the high winds, though inside panels will still be held. For me, the many booths, from large and small publishers and groups, were the best part of the weekend.

At least we don't have boats parked in the streets, and no shark was observed swimming down Avenue Sea.
