Does anybody know why this space is permitted to protrude about 6 ft. onto the public sidewalk? Not as outdoor seating, but as a fully enclosed extension of the primary space. And now, with the added boards and supports they're claiming another 2 or 3 inches of sidewalk. One can clearly see from the pictures in this post that the protrusion extends both onto the 5th Street side and onto the 2nd Avenue side. It's even more clear using Google's Street View. The main part of the building aligns with the rest of 5th Street and 2nd Avenue. Just curious.
Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.
