Today in red-tailed hawks eating pigeons in Tompkins Square Park

It was a busy day for hawk watching today in Tompkins Square Park... where onlookers were watching a red-tailed hawk dine on a pigeon...

Eventually, another hawk came along and watched the action as well...

Sunday dinner and no Ranch dressing on the pigeon. These hawks know what they're doing!

I believe it's called "squab".
(Jeez!; EV'rs so uncouth!)

All these pictures of hawk-eaten animals--it's like being traumatized all over again by the snuff-film displays of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, starring Grieve as our new Marlin Perkins...

Nice flickr video, pale thing! That was very cool to see "in action", as it were.

I could never pull off an all khaki outfit the way Marlin did!

the very coolest part was when that hawk was celebrating its meal by doing its sonic boom squawk that just wonderfully echoed and reverberated throughout the park
