I live a block away, and that's a very common sight in front of that particular Candy Store. Usually, there's a bigger group of folks though.

The normal routine goes something like this: Orange Con Ed style parking cones are set out to block off several parking spots in front of the store, a card table or two is then set up in those spaces, and finally a half dozen or so chairs are set up around them. What follows next is the best part. You get to witness a rousing neighborhood game of dominos being played right there in the street!

It's a sight reminiscent of what we'd see in a real old time New York City neighborhood of years gone by. But unfortunately, not so much any more. From the perspective of community and nostalgia, it's really a very nice sight to see!

Unless of course, you just happen to be the guy that wants one of those parking spots...

Thanks, Patrick.... you're right... I like seeing neighbors congregate here talking about the news of the day, etc. I had walked by earlier and there were more people watching...but once it was clear that Argentina would win, a few people drifted away...
