Chinatown mainstay Dim Sum Go Go opening an East Village outpost

Looks like Michelin- and Zagat-rated Dim Sum Go Go is opening an outpost at 221 First Ave. between 13th Street and 14th Street.

According to the @TradedNY account, the popular Dim Sum Go Go signed a lease late last month for the 1,600-square-foot space. This will be their second NYC location outside the 21-year-old flagship space at 5 E. Broadway in Chinatown.

The First Avenue address was previously Punto Rojo, the reasonably priced bakery-restaurant that served traditional Colombian food here until late 2019.

I remember when they first open, they were quite the sensation. Way less great nowadays, there are way better places in Chinatown.

Punto Rojo was expensive, for Colombian food.

Senior Pollo before Punto Rojo were the reasonably priced nicest people place

Senior Pollo was the best! They were Peruvian chicken. That green sauce was super good and the people were very pleasant and the price was right. You could get rice OR quinoa!

I mean - this is huge. They are probably the best bang for your buck dim sum in Chinatown. All the dim sum is handmade (pretty rare in NYC) and rightfully recognized by Michelin.

Dim Sum Go Go has variety of vegetarian dim sums. It is very great place to bring your vegetarian friends there. Everyone can enjoy their dim sums.

Awesome! One of the best values In Chinatown…been going there for years. Food is very consistent and staff is so nice. So good to hear expanding…

I've recently re-discovered Dim Sum Go Go in Chinatown and it's true that their dim sum is top-notch because everything is handmade. The roast duck dumplings are a standout. I'm happy people in the EV can enjoy their food but I'll still make the trip to Chinatown instead. (Dim dum in the East Village just doesn't feel right to me....I need the backdrop of Chinatown.)

I find them still good, but not exceptional or particularly cheaper than others. I go there with a discount of all the deal sites they're on.

Who is more exceptional than them in terms of dimsum?

Senor Pollo was great, was so sorry to see it go, unfortunately the replacement Puntu Rojo was not nearly as good. This block is a real garbage block these days, the antics that happen arounf 14th & 1st Ave spread in all directions for at least a half-block.... I hope this restaurant is popular and can turn the block around.................

very exciting! do we have an idea of when this will be opening? yes, señor pollo was great- their spicy green sauce was amazing and their chimmichurri was so good it inspired me to make my own but it was never as good... I used to buy their chimmichurri by the cup or pint and use it for everything and bring it to parties! does anyone know if they have opened anywhere else? thanks!

I'm very, very fond of the dim sum at Bodhi restaurant at 77 Mulberry street—yes, it's all vegan (except for a few things that include egg), but they even have VEGAN SOUP BUNS.

That said, I'm happy Dim Sum Go Go is opening an outpost up here; I haven't been there in years, but now that they're going to be this close, I'll be sure to go.
