As the second-generation owner Tom Birchard reluctantly retires after 54 years, his son Jason faces the pressures of stepping into his father's shoes as the war in Ukraine impacts his family and staff.

Saw this today. As the saying goes: I laughed, I cried. If you love--or are even just curious about--Veselka and the people who work there, you'll be glad that you saw the film.
And I'm surely in the mood for their vegetarian borscht now!
I remember the restaurant when it was located on Avenue A, that seems an eternity. Good food and ambience, and great idea to make this documentary during this time of conflict.
