Mystery Lot monster leaves before getting annexed by NYU

Our friend Lux Living passes along the following photo with this upsetting news, "It seems the doomed monster of the 13th Street Mystery Lot fame has been beamed back up to his home planet."

[A moment of silence]

In reality, workers who were there to mow the rocks and weeds Tuesday most likely removed the little fellow.

And now, a fond look back...

And, after a storm...

What is your favorite memory of the Mystery Lot Monster/Alien? Were you suspicious that it never applied for a liquor license? Or become a boutique hotel? Or annexed by NYU?

Previously.

Boy, that last picture still makes me really sad, no jokes about that. I was hoping he'd run for mayor, get elected and let us smoke in the parks again and return to the days when you could drink a tallboy in a brown paper bag on the sidewalks and not get a summons by the cops. Yes, I have simple and selfish wishes.

Goodbye ET, I hope you're standing upright wherever you are.

I was suspicious the other day when it asked me to cash a post-dated, third-party, out-of-state check.

Awwww, that makes me sad. Travel well, Mystery Visitor, I hope wherever you go next they treat you better than you were here.

@EV Grieve: Well I hope you cashed it, so he's got some walking around dough wherever he is.

EV Grieve, how dare you try to sully his reputation like that?! Our ET friend is beyond reproach!

OF COURSE he had a hard time cashing a check, he wasn't a legal Earth citizen!

@ Roger_Paw

I felt badly the second after I left the message.

You see, the truth is, I asked it to cash a post-dated, third-party, out-of-state check for me.

Tough times here at EVG. Which is why I'll be asking the community board to OK new hours for me (till 4 am) and a full-liquor license.

I always figured the alien was sent here on a mission. And that obviously he got confused after he fell in love with an earth girl who lived on 12th St.

Interplanetary relationships never work out.

Still looks like Susan Stetzer to me!

I can't believe the entire navy fleet came to town retrieve their pet. He must've been microchipped.
