Sapporo East took my sushi virginity over 20 years ago. Hope they're okay...
I remember when they were building this place in the summer of 1980; it was the second Japanese restaurant in the nabe, to my knowledge. First time I ate there I got a bowl of ramen; I ate most of it, then at the bottom in the broth I found a small cooked fly. I called it to the attention of the waiter, who was most apologetic, and carried away the offending bowl, then sat back and waited for my check. What I got instead was - a whole new bowl of ramen. I've loved the place ever since, and echo pinhead's hope that they re-open soon.
Have you heard anything about the old Raven space? They have covered the windows with brown paper, and there are some people in there now. It looks like they are trying to layout the space for what is to come...
Overpriced and fast-food quality Good riddance!
Gonna miss the little waitress' tray with Anarchy signs scribbled on it.
One of my favs, hope all is well!
