Cheep's eats for Second Avenue

Thanks to the EV Grieve tipster for passing along this signage shot of Cheep's, which is going in at the former Snacklicious Cinderella, Second Avenue near St. Mark's Place...

Ate there this evening they had only been open for about 5hrs and they were still trying to get it together. Other than that the prices where great but the Shawarma was at best average. I would probably wait another couple of weeks to venture back and give them a second try and maybe the vertical roaster will be better seasoned and all will be better!

Thanks for the report, Alessandra... I will take your advice and hold off a week or two before trying them...

I ate here for dinner last night, and I have to say - it was delicious! First of all, they give you the whole pita bread stuffed with goodies, not just a half pita (a la Mamoun's). Second, unlike a lot of places that serve Shawarma, they gave 2 layers of meat (one inside and one on top). The meat was tender, juicy, and well seasoned, and the portion of fries you get for $2 is unreal. For $3.75, I have no complaints!

It's my new favorite spot to stop and re charge during my taxi shift.
