Honestly, I don't know how they lasted this long. Nothing against the owners or their merchandise. But the place felt temporary from the moment it opened.
Live around here long enough, and you just get a feeling. We walk past new shops lately and try to come up with their estimated time of extinction. Sometimes it just seems kind of obvious.
I do this too often with new restaurants (or bars). I'll think, "they'll be closed in 14 months." As you say, nothing against these places, but it's easy to tell usually when they won't last.
Same with that new poster shop on Allen between Stanton & Rivington. They took over Waffa Cafe (or whatever it was called). Looks like a front operation but I could be wrong. It just looks like an odd space.
Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.
