[Updated] Westside Market looking closer to opening on 3rd Avenue in Gramercy Park

The new Westside Market at 180 Third Ave. between 16th Street and 17th Street is shaping up...

Word is it will open by the end of July June. The space looks like a smaller version than the one just five blocks to the south at 84 Third Ave.

The Gramercy Park location is one of three new Westside outposts to open this year. In total, there will be seven in the city.

The retail space had been a Met Foods, which closed in the spring of 2015.

The East Village Westside opened in October 2014.

Updated 6/28

The store opens on June 28, 11:30 a.m.

Still no word on what will be going in to the Post Office replacement on 14th and A? Trader Joe's, Home Depot, entrance to Hell?

I was at Trader Joe's a month ago and a management type said that the deal was on at the other 14th street site. The delay was due to a problem with the lease. But I've heard this before so... take it for what it's worth...

This space looks narrower than the one on 1tth St. but it is incredibly deep. The old Met supermarket was like a maze of aisles packed deep into the store and they carried just about everything The question is whether or not they will be allowed to display produce outside or is that building too snooty to allow it? A nice addition to an area that needs more alternatves to Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and of course Tarjay.

Westside Market needs to cut down on the air conditioning! The entire store is like a freezer! Perhaps they could bring their prices into a more reasonable zone (Some items are priced higher than Whole Foods!) and spend less money on their Con Ed bill!
