As previously reported, the grocery has completed a near-year-long interior renovation, including an expanded produce section plus new lights, floors, and freezers — and thankfully, the same shopping soundtrack heavy on fringe-y late 1980s alternative hits ... as well as some other chestnuts.
On that note, here's an EVG Key Food playlist for Keychella... based on songs we've actually heard while in Key through the more-recent years...
Otherwise, over the next three days, there'll be some giveaways, samples, and savings if you spend a certain amount of money. (Loyalty Club Card required!) The raffle drawing is today, so get your raffle ticket in TODAY.

That very 80s soundtrack has some deep cuts.
There should be a Keyfood Spotify playlist. I'd subscribe.
I used to go into the Washington Mutual ATM vestibule on 2nd Ave & St Marks (now Swiss Institute) to listen to this exact playlist. That must have been 15-20 years ago. Glad to see Key Food keeping up with the times LOL.
I recommend trying the BBQ chicken wings in the hot meals area by the deli. They're surprisingly good.
Speaking of deep cuts... I once heard "Catapult" from Murmur, REM's studio debut from 1983.
Yes. Pretty Poison has a song called "Catch Me I'm Falling" from the 1987 film "Hiding Out" with Jon Cryer. That would be a good Key Food song.
The one I reference in the list, though, is from the Australian band Real Life's debut album from 1983.
I preferred the prior unremodeled store. Lower prices, more brands and nothing- no renovation- can replace 24/7 OPEN hours for a full grocery.
Went out of my way to shop there at 3am to avoid crowds and get the first deals. Miss the full hours tremendously!
This blog should be renamed ," I Love keyfood
Best playlist ever.
Also Anita Baker "Sweet Love"
Samantha is such a ray of sunshine who joined the Keyfood Supermarket Team...She packs our groceries and is so polite to all the customers. Everytime we see her she is smiling and working hard. Please keep her no matter what...she is everything our neighborhood is missing and she gives us the old school NYC vibes. Stay sweet Sammie we need people like you in the world....Now more than ever kiddo♥️🙏
For some reason, many supermarkets carries 80s new wave soundtrack. Same at Morton Williams.
