Earlier in the month we posted some short videos by downtown filmmaker Nelson Sullivan... Here's another one titled "The Fabulous Personalities of 1980s New York."
@Marty - That's just what I thought when I saw the HoJo neon! I still mourn its loss every time I'm unlucky enough to be in the sanitized Times Square. And this video - God, I miss those days, when people came here to be crazy creative instead of crazy drunk.
@Marty - Yup. Makes my blood pressure skyrocket whenever I'm in the vicinity. (I also sigh whenever I think of the TS branch of Beefsteak Charlie's - with unlimited salad bar - that my late hubby and I used to go to in the 1980s. To us it was the height of sophistication and glamorous dining!)
Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.

I loved seeing the Howard Johnson's in this. I really miss that place.
RuPaul looked fabulous, as usual (even in man dress).

@Lisa: Once they locked the doors to HOJO I said NOMO to Times Square, unless I absolutely have to go through there. It's so embarrassing there now.
