Sorry to hear that. YH was one of the last remaining Chinese restaurants/take out that were good. Their hot and sour soup, string beans and dumplings were delish.

Seems thai food has become the new Chinese takeout.

Last week there was a sign on the door about the place needing repairs. I think it said something about a plumbing issue. But, yes, yesterday the place looked empty.

Their food was indeed tasty enough. But we ordered takeout once - ONCE -- and there was a roach in my hot and sour soup. So, um, no. (My husband insists that this could have happened in ANY of the hole-in-the-wall Chinese places we order from. Since this makes me hork to even contemplate, I've chosen to believe he's wrong.)

Marjorie, I hate to freak you out, but your husband is right. It could happen anywhere, and it does. I was once eating with a friend at Gandhi on 7th Street, and she found a roach in her food. I still go there.

I wonder if Yummy House might find another location in the neighborhood. It was my go-to place for Chinese food.

Well, no wonder they didn't answer their phone when I called last night craving wonton soup and sesame shrimp. I am very upset about this, as it was MY go-to place too. Food was great and delivery was speed of light. I wonder if they will reopen somewhere else...please!

Yea - they had a "huge" plumbing leak a week or two ago, so this is most definitely related.

I just called to place an order and they told me they moved a block over onto 2nd Ave. between 11th and 12th.

Argh. Yummy House has been our go-to Chinese takeout since Empire Szechuan in the Village closed. Anybody know what's good in the hood now? I hope they reopen elsewhere under the same management.

Oh, and Marjorie, we got a roach in our rice from Banjara once. Ever since, my wife won't eat there, but you know every restaurant in the city is crawling with 'em. Hey, extra protein! Sorry

I've been pleased with the Vietnamese food that I've picked up from Le Da Nang on Second Avenue between 4th and 5th.

I called last night to see if the plumbing was fixed and they answered the phone and were ready to take my order... but then told me that they now share with Plump Dumpling on Second. Too much damage was done to the old space. They said one of their chefs has come over and that last night was their first day. I didn't like previous meals at Plump Dumpling so I decided to wait a bit before trying them again.

Agreed, it's ridiculous that there's no decent Chinese takeout in the East Village.

What will happen to Yummy House's bike delivery guys? Speediest deliveries this side of the Yangtze.

Yummy House Fans BEWARE!!!!!

Plump Dumpling on 11th St. & 2nd ave is now answering the delivery number for Yummy House and they said they are now sharing space and that YH has the same chef as they always did.

Lies I tell you ... All Lies!!!

The food is terrible and it definitely is NOT the same as Yummy House. I'm so disappointed as we would have never ordered from Plump Dumpling. When I called back to confront them they said well we do have one chef that had worked at YH. Seems like a scam to me!!

AdamsAthas, yours is one of the best comments I've ever seen on EVG. I'm not being sarcastic btw. It's just really cute and I love all your exclamations!!! alongside words like "yummy" and "plump" and "dumpling."

A sign on the building said it moved to 11th and 2nd. That location is Plump Dumpling and the guy inside insisted that Yummy House merged with them and that the cook was the same. However, the Hot and Spicy tofu -- so good at Yummy House -- was greasy and overfried. The place itself was fairly dumpy. I think maybe they somehow bought out Yummy House but there is no evidence of YH quality there. I wouldn't go again.

Went with a friend to the new location. The food is nowhere near the same quality. Everything seemed old and tasteless.I was sure i was going to get sick but didn't. Still that's my last time here. RIP Yummy House.
