Here's your Veselka Bowery signage

Here we are at the coming-soon Bowery/First Street location of Veselka...

We last heard that the location will open in mid-March, per the Feast.

And here was a progress report from September.

Dear God, that's depressing. Way too slick and soulless for dear old Veselka. I won't be patronizing this chilly hipster hell, but sticking to Veselka 1.0. And they better not even DREAM of shutting it down, either...

And cue the bemoaning of a local business...

Now all the people obstructing the sidewalk on 9th Street on nice weekends while waiting for a table have another place to congregate.

Right. Outside Mogador or Orlin while the countless other brunch places go half-filled.

Sorry HippeChick but Velselka "1.0" as you call it is, is already a soulless hipster dump, especially since they took out the ham and bacon in their split pea soup to make it "vegetarian" [now it tastes like shit] Veselka sold out a long time ago from the days it was a small counter diner [like Stage Deli] that sold baseball cards and newspapers.
Better Ukrainian food can be had at the Ukrainian Home Restaurant a few steps away and other places around the city

ShutUpHooker is right on the money. The alternatives to Veselka serve better food at lower prices and you won't have to sit next to some dope reading a "Not for Tourists" guide to NY.
