Penthouse striptease at 219 First Avenue

Seems as if the northwest corner of First Avenue at 13th Street has been boarded up/under construction since, say, 2005... the ground floor here once housed the Mee Noodle Shop, a favorite spot for Allen Ginsburg...

...and in 2009...

Yesterday, workers unwrapped the top levels of the former four-floor building...

...and by the end of the work day...

According to the retail listing... you can take possession of the ground-floor space in March....

We haven't found any information just yet on the housing portion of the building, and whether it will be condos or rentals. The DOB lists Joshua Landau of Integrated Capital as the building's owner.

Previously on EV Grieve:

Glad it's all the way up by 13th st - so I won't have to see this weird Hamptons beach house thing often.

abrod, you hit it exactly, all that shingling looks like something from Cape Cod. Not a something being built in a historical area

ok it's brick and mortar in the listing photo but its ugly glass and steel in real life? WTF???
Those photos were like unwrapping a gift you just KNOW you don't want.

Well that's certainly ugly. Kind of looks like a huge barn to me.

Where do you stick the dollar bill on this stripper monstrosity?

Was an elevator installed? If not, it's kind of a hike to get to the beach house.

This building up on existing tenements is looking like a trend. The Marcel Hotel on 24th and Third doubled its size this way, and the building on the SW corner of Third and 19th has done the same. Now, for $1M+, you can have an apartment with a fire escape (per Selling New York).
