this is a selling point how?
It's a warning for sure. Plus side is, you'd have a pleasantly quiet summer in that building though
fn NYU kids. get the f out of here...
call an exterminator
I would insist that the infestation be taken care of before moving in.- East Villager
abrod, probably they will have summer sublets and those are even worse.
That would make "comfortable" an oxymoron! (Plus why is it Ave "A"? Do they think "A" is short for something?) I am, however, glad to see that the bedrooms are REAL NEW.
Of course its a selling point for these kids, everyone likes to be around their own kind why would NYU kids be any different. It's also why it's being advertised as a share. Seems like common sense to me. You may not like them these college kids but hard to understand they are not.
If the building is full of NYU students, much like the rest of the neighborhood, the "A" refers to "Assholes" as in "The Avenue of Assholes." Walk this Avenue on a Friday or Saturday night and you'll see how it gets it's name.Crazy Eddie enlightened me to this naming convention months ago.
I'd say it's a pretty fair warning to both sides. You don't want to live in a frat house? Move along. You don't want to live with a building full of people who will leave passive aggressive notes under your door detailing the lowpoints of your idiotic extended adolescence? There's a place for you somewhere else. You can't pick your neighbors, but it helps to know what you're getting yourself into.
@Big Bro-thanks. Or the sign could say “full of bedbugs”. Uhmm? Decisions, decisions.
@Anony 3.32 PM-You mean “Coeds, like, Yah!”? Although as I walked by Westville early evening last Friday, and within 2 seconds of walking by 3 separate tables filled with millennium age women, I heard the vocal fry anthem of “Yah” at least once from each table. The conversation is either “Like” or “Yah” or a combo with an occasional “OMG” or “Whatever” thrown in. Didn’t Whoopi Goldberg eviscerate these crackers back in the 80’s?
The ad would less startling with a few simple edits. It's the "full of" that makes me uneasy. Instead, why not recast the sentence this way:Several NYU students call this building home.Several NYU students live here too.We welcome NYU studentsNYU — not just on Third Avenue anymore
Woo Village FTW! FML!
ha ha, I love you, Anon 4:03. You must be an editor. Your comment is happiness. You had me at "startling."PS don't give your work away to these real estate creeps! charge $$
burgeoning love on evgrieve comments section. priceless.
yay like a freud in a track suit marking up the hood with his tag SEXX
The landlord probably wants temporary tenants he or she can charge higher rates to- there are hundreds of buildings in this neighborhood that are 'full of NYU students' for that reason, but since it's technically illegal to discriminate based on age or background, this is the landlords (tonedeaf) way of being coy about it. Failing, but that's what's going on. Carry on.
need more mutual admiration and unrequited posts of comments section love and less rational well reasoned statements about the current situation
Anon 10:50, I already made a rational statement ("call an exterminator") and I think when you find someone's comments charming you should tell them so. Lighten up, Francine!Honestly though, the current situation sucks. What is it with NYU types not understanding how to properly dispose of trash, and why do none of these mofos ever break down the huge boxes they constantly leave downstairs? And why are they all such goddamn door slammers?
i feel like there are 20 regular posters who sometimes reveal their identities and who sometimes don't as anons, and they all know each other, often too intimately, and wherever i engage in conversation that i am actually the only true anon (or the only true regular anon)...
by way of juxtaposition with perhaps better results for unrequited love based on someone's writing, i would say that karina longworth's writing for the village voice is the type that would make me swoon. just saying. of course, she's not anon. and she's probably not an editor. but she's a writer, pure and simple. and as anyone in the know knows a writer is not really an editor and it's the writer who is really all the sexy superstar...
Anon 9:46, if you saw unedited copy on a regular basis you might change your tune. About 10% of writers are sexy superstars. The rest need all the help they can get. And the only reason you don't think editors are sexy is because you don't even realize they're here :p
