Full Stop Work Order at Schwimmer Manor

It is quiet outside David Schwimmer's incoming estate at 331 E. Sixth St. this morning. As DNAinfo reported yesterday afternoon, a piece of debris "caromed off a scaffold" and struck a passerby, who EMTs took to Bellevue with a minor arm injury.

Meanwhile, the DOB immediately issued a Stop Work Order on the property.

In the DOB's all-cap style: "FULL SWO ISSUED FOR MISSING GUARDRAILS, OPENINGS AT EGRESS, HOUSEKEEPING, AND INTERIOR SCAFFOLD NO PERMITS."

The city issued a Stop Work Order here back on Nov. 10: "CALLER STATES THE EXCAVATION WORK AT THE LOCATION IS UNDERMINING THE ADJACENT PROPERTY AT 329 6 ST CAUSING IT TO SHAKE."

BoweryBoogie has photos from yesterday right here.

I'm still unclear how they get to take up 3-4 parking spaces for their private enterprise. But then NYU registers its shuttle buses in New Jersey, so I guess you can get away with anything under BOOZEBURG.

Sounds like there won't be a lot of FRIENDS here.

I'm still not clear how the playground at A and 10th is turned over every weekend day to a bunch of privileged, decidedly non-neighborhood 'street hockey' players who specialize in fake-enthusiam unison jock cheers.

It's a neighborhood park, and as soon as the weather is decent, the local skateboarders, softball players and hoop hacks can't use their own playground. Instead, its infested by a bunch of 20-somethings and their coaches who should be playing in Westchester or somewhere.

I understand how getting a permit or a scheduled playing time for city tennis courts, grass baseball diamonds, and East River soccer fields makes sense, but a blacktopped area of TSP? For this? Wha?

@ John M - I couldn't agree more - these people hoot and holler as they descend on the park every freakin weekend. I don't understand how a public space is occupied by these idiots. When OWS met in the park they had 25 cops all over them like flies on shit saying they didn't have the right to be in the park and certanly not playing drums. I used to see young groups of guys gather early on Saturday and Sunday morning for pick-up softball games. They obviously lived here and new each other etc. I would strongly suggest you bring this to the attention of the Community Board and our local elected officials. I would also suggest starting an on-line petition and sending a link to the Grieve, because I know this pisses off a whole bunch of folks in the hood, maybe not as many as St. Mark's Books possible closing, but alot.

Screw those pricks who come in and play their crap version of street hockey and vibe out the entire neighborhood. Who are these people and where the fuck do they come from?!

These buildings go up with no regard for anyone or anything. Schwimmer is a lousy actor and a despicable human being. he should give the land back to the neighborhood for affordable housing. It doesn't really matter i suppose that he is a bad actor, look at DiNiro, he's a good actor but he and his real estate family have helped to destroy this city. When is enough enough.

Please somebody put a petition together and lets send it to the guys from the Parks Department who deal with TSP. They were there the day that the OWS was at the park. The guy from Nuyorican Poets Cafe knows them because they are supportive towards the plaques in TSP.

The hockey destroys the whole mood of the park.
