What's with all the cabs parked on Avenue A?

That's what a reader asked yesterday after seeing cabs lined up on Avenue A the past few days... EVG regular Creature noted this too with the following three photos...

[From Thursday via Bobby Williams]

I didn't see all this myself... and really have no idea. Anyone know?

Updated: Thanks. Answer in the comments.

I live on upper Avenue A, and there's frequently a bunch cabs parked up here. The drivers are making a stop to pray at the mosque on 11th and 1st Ave: http://thevillager.com/villager_211/madinamosqueismuslim.html

Actually a regular daily occurrence. They go to prayers at the mosque on First Avenue and Eleventh St.

Oh, of course... thanks... and a lot of the parking spaces are gone on East 11th and East 12th Streets with the construction at the East Side school...

Most taxi drivers go to the noon prayer; Friday seems to be the busiest day.
