The IHOP-IHOb reveal occurred this morning.

Here's USA Today:

IHOP announced that it was changing its name to "IHOb," with the “b” denoting burgers. The change is not permanent, a company spokeswoman said, but rather is a move to promote its new burger line.

Known for its pancakes, the newly dubbed IHOP is releasing seven Ultimate Steakburgers as part of its rebranding effort — all the while keeping its breakfast items on the menu.

Unfortunately, the name change didn't go the way that some people wanted...

Better a IHOBE than a IHOb!

If this name change doesn't work out, they can always change it to the International House of Bankruptcy.

This nonsense will go down with New Coke as one of the all-time marketing disasters.

Actually, if they'd cut a deal with Impossible Foods to debut the Impossible Burger—which had a major event recently—they could make this work. And they could sell them alongside 100% beef burgers for a taste-off, too.

Considering that Impossible has even begun selling sliders at White Castle, what I'm proposing isn't that radical; it's actually a natural progression toward world domination.

A rather lame stab to compete with Shake Shack and the thousand other burger joints that have opened up in the past year. Stick to pancakes. Mmm pancakes.

This will shut down in less than a year, just like the one that was on Carmine Street. Unless IhoPb decides to add bubble tea to their beverage menu
