A new East Village walk of fame?
Workers yesterday were putting in a new sidewalk around the recently renovated storefront on the southwest corner of First Avenue and St. Mark's Place... and they left it unattended overnight.
And so this morning...
And obviously...
Anyway, workers have divided this former single-occupant storefront into three spaces. Eiyo Bowl, a vegan quick-serve restaurant specializing in acai and rice bowls, will be the first tenant here at 131 First Ave. (now going by 82 St. Mark's Place), as previously reported.
The previous tenant, Foot Gear Plus, closed in July 2018 after nearly 40 years in business.
Previously on EV Grieve:
• After nearly 40 years, Foot Gear Plus is closing on 1st Avenue and St. Mark's Place
• What's next for 131 1st Ave., the former Foot Gear Plus space?
• A look at 131 1st Ave., currently being divided into 3 retail spaces

Star Girl appears to have been done by an imposter!
Was the contractor from Peoria??
third world hellscape
Vandalism lite. In the olds day a punk or two would stomp a boot into the wet cement.
star girl was cute now the person is fucking annoying cause they do it too much. don't oversaturate, son.
Is there a snow/cement penis?
Fucking hate that star girl now. Have a visceral reaction against it.
Worst graffiti ever! Star Girl tagged the mosque on 1st Ave. Believer of not respect people's houses of worship.
vandalism
Brett Kirby from Psychodrama once told us the secret of success was to find a gimmick and stick with it. Stargirl gets it.
Yeah EV go ahead and applaud and publicize this MEANINGLESS VANDALISM.
People have no respect for other peoples property. They should be arrested & put in jail.
Thanks to all my fans for your kind words of support as I attempt to tag every blank space in the East Village from 3rd Avenue to the East River. I understand that some people are upset because I have not tagged their area yet! In order to help me achieve my goal, please let me know if I have missed your building, storefront, trash can, school or dormitory and I will be sure to tag it right away! Also, if you want to launch a Kickstarter to help me pay for all of this paint that would be very nice! Ok nabes, Star Girl gotta go be Star Girl now! A tag a day keeps the doctor away! See you on the street, and in your dreams!
Forever Tagging,
Star Girl
P.S. Tell the Penistrator to say away from my damn car!
Whatever happened to the spirit of revolution and creative expression that was a hallmark of the East Village in its glory days? I would think that posters to EV Grieve would celebrate the free expression of this tagging and its defiance of yet two more stores that will be part of the gentrification of the EV.
disgraceful the lack of basic respect is not east village it's not New York it's just ugly this isn't beautiful graffiti which is an addition to our community, it's just dumb destruction
Someone failed Cementing in the East Village 101.
Star Girl needs to get a fucking life and step committing crimes.
It’s safe to assume these punks have no jobs likely do drugs drink etc. This is even worse than graffiti. I know we live in NY where government supposed to fix everything but the cost of redoing this sidewalk might be $10-$20k
It's not "revolution" it's destruction of someone else property.
Side note :
The first corner space has only one outlet !
No phone line, no nothing, just one outlet for everything
to run a business.
I hope they find the losers who did this. They should either be arrested or fined or both. I would expect this kind of behavior from juveniles, but if this is from the hands of adults, this is just pathetic as it effects business owners and neighbors. Downright shameful and disrespectful.
Hi, it’s Star Girl here again! Thanks to all by Baes and Bros for all of your generous support. The grassroots Kickstarter campaign has been a big success and I am ready to start wildly tagging again! In order to maximize my media exposure I plan to tag the highest profile structures in the East Village. Since all of you EV art experts are also fans I will let you decide which one I tag first! Please vote for one, or if you can’t contain yourself, you can vote for all of them! Thanks fam!
1) The Cube (aka The Alamo) the big black piece of scrap metal on Astor Place
2) The Temperance Fountain in Thompson Square Park (also known as “Tompkins” Square Park for you newbies)
3) The Arch in Washington Square (technically it’s not the EV, but at this point who cares?)
4) The storefronts on St. Martin’s Place (or look for St. Marks Place on Google maps if you get lost)
5) The 18 miles of books at the Strand bookstore
6) The boring organic vegetables at Union Square farmers market
7) The windows on the Mr. Softee ice cream trucks
8) All of the above
Spoiler alert: the right answer is All of the above, but you I bet knew that already!
Forever Tagging,
Star Girl
P.S. Can someone call the Brandt Foundation Museum and tell them I’m ready for my show?
Is the star girl serious? Does he/she really believe this doodle constitutes talent? Look how far we've fallen in that regard. Pathetic. Ugly and overstated. Move on to another 'hood. SICK OF IT. SICK OF IT. SICK OF IT.
I think Stargirl™ needs to tag Mount Rushmore.
@Edenbee™️ : I’d be glad to tag Mount Rushmore right after I’m done tagging the L Train, Gem Spa, Veselka, and the Marble Cemetery, Don't worry, I wont touch the monuments, at least not the nice ones!
Forever Tagging,
Star Girl
P.S. I’m assuming that Mount Rushmore is a bar or restaurant. Can you tell me what street it's on?
Everyone here is from Missouri
Okay grandpa
Right on the corner of Ave E and East -1st Street
Club Mount Rushmore is located in the third bathroom stall in the ladies bathroom in Tompkins Square Park. It is THEE place to be in NYC on Saturday night! Cozy atmosphere, authentic NYC odor plus cute rats to play with!
Star Girl will rue the day she was born if I happen on her. She seems to think she's accomplishing some sort of artistic endeavor when, it is really nothing but, vanity. I suppose she thinks she's in the category of 'Chico' or Jim Power who does EV ceramic mosaics but, she nothing but, a two-bit VANDAL!
A total lack of respect shown by low intelligence people who have absolutely no regard for anyone else's property.
